Shinji Kagawa is on his way to Real Zaragoza
According to Spanish outlet Marca, the Japanese player is about to confirm his arrival in Spain.
Lats week Zaragoza manager Victor Fernandez said he was close to making a shock world-class addition to his squad.
It is believed that Real Zaragoza reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to loan the Japanese playmaker for the 2019/20 season.
30-year-old Kagawa was a revelation under Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund. Which orchestrated a move to Manchester United in 2012.
He was, however, unable to replicate the form that made him a fan favorite in Germany.
The physicality of the Premier League left him struggling to shine with the ball at his feet. As he had done so easily in the Bundesliga.
He returned to Westfalenstadion in 2014. He initially rediscovered his form upon his return.
But now five years on, he has slipped down the ranks.
He found himself on loan for the second half of last season to Turkish side Besiktas. He managed four goals in the Turkish league.
It is believed Celta Vigo expressed an interest in the player. Who can play out on the wing, or as a traditional number and a central playmaker.
This will be quite a marquee signing for a club that has been languishing in the second tier of Spanish football for over six years now.
While some may consider this quite a step down for a player of Kagawa’s ability.
He will be regarded as a hero in Zaragoza if he is the one to lead them on the field back to the promised land that this La Liga Santander.
