French Ligue 1 side Lille sign top Turkish prospect Yusuf Yazici from Trabzonspor.
He has come through the ranks at Trabzonspor. Playing in the academy teams and making his pro debut in 2015.
In 100 top-flight games, he has managed to find the back of the net 22 times as well as 21 assists.
He has represented the Turkish national team at senior level 14 times..
Lille general manager Marc Ingla said of the signing:
“He has great technical qualities.”
“An ability to create shifts.”
“A very good quality of shots and pass.”
He has a remarkable left foot.”
“Yusuf will further enrich our workforce for the upcoming season.”
Lille have been busy this transfer window.
Granted they saw the departure of the league’s second top scorer Nicols Pepe to Arsenal. They did, however, command a record 72 million pound fee for their striker.
It has not been all selling though. They have acquired the services of 8 new players before this one.
This includes the United States men’s national team prospect, 19-year-old Timothy Weah.
Lille have developed a habit of signing promising young prospects and developing them.
Then cashing in for a tidy profit at a later date.
Although this has helped the club balance the books. It is not so appreciated by the fans.
They have been in trouble with the French federation for crowd trouble as the fans showed their discontent with club owner Gerard Lopez.
This will be manager Christophe Galtier’s second full season in charge. He will be hoping his new recruits will help him avoid a dogged relegation battle again.
