The slow start of the season has created a tensed atmosphere at Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid registered a 3-0 win in the weekend over Las Palmas, to interrupt the negative sequence brought by defeats to Girona and Tottenham. However, this has not relaxed the atmosphere in the team’s changing room.
According to Calciomercato, Sergio Ramos warned Zinedine Zidane about the risks of not keeping all of his players happy. The source indicates that the team’s captain informed his manager over Marco Asensio’s unhappiness with his status in the team. The 21-year-old has become unsettled due to the small number of starting appearances for the team. Asensio feels that he should have a bigger role in the team, especially given the fact that his performances have always impressed when he was called upon.
Asensio did start five of the last six matches of the team in La Liga, but things could be changing soon, as Gareth Bale is close to returning to full fitness. It is expected that the Welsh winger will be then starting over Asensio.
Zidane, therefore, has the very difficult task of pleasing all of his attacking players among which are world class names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Isco and Marco Asensio. A potential problem in the changing room involving his attackers would only add to the already existing problems for Zidane after a failed start of the season that sees Real Madrid eight points behind La Liga leaders and rivals Barcelona.
