PSG take on the challenge of Atalanta and Tomas Tuchel has nothing but praise for the work done by his opposite number.
In about a month’s time, domestic leagues across Europe will restart but the 2019/20 Champions League is still in session. One of the crunch fixtures awaiting fans is PSG versus Atalanta.
Both sides like to prefer attack over the defense, and can beat the best in Europe on their day.
Atalanta are the underdogs in the matchup but Tomas Tuchel is wary of their rivals. Just like Marco Verratti is.
Reflecting on the fixture, Tuchel admitted that the Parisians will have to be organized at the back against La Dea. The former Borussia Dortmund coach also had praise for his rivals, hailing their playing style as unique.
Alejandro Gomez will get special attention in the fixture as Tuchel singled him out for his influence.
“Defending well is going to be very important against Atalanta,” Football Italia quoted Tuchel.
“They have a totally unique style. They attack with all their players, move forward all the time and press everywhere. Their Number 10, Gomez, is always free to roam. He tries to combine with other players in small spaces.”
“They like to play down both sides with very attacking wingers, they put in crosses, but can also hit shots from distance.”
“All this means we have to be very focused in defence and try not to concede, but we know that’s going to be very difficult keeping a clean sheet against Atalanta.”
The match will be played in Lisbon and kick off is slated for 19 00 GMT.
