Thomas Tuchel is banking on Neymar to play a pivotal role for Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Paris Saint-Germain might be without one of their most crucial players, Kylian Mbappe, when they take on Atalanta in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Mbappe suffered an ankle injury last month. Even if he does manage to feature on Wednesday, he will be limited to the role of a substitute.
As much as they would miss their star player, PSG have no shortage of match-deciding players – and one such player is Neymar.
Neymar was key to his side’s success in the Last-16 round as he scored in both the legs against Borussia Dortmund. He also struck the winning goal in PSG’s French Cup victory against Saint-Etienne.
The Brazilian will once again be required to step up against Atalanta, and manager Thomas Tuchel is certain that the former FC Barcelona man will not disappoint.
“I have the impression there’s always a lot of pressure on Neymar. You can’t imagine the pressure that’s on Ney,” Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference, as AS reports.
“But he is a lad who likes that, who’s used to playing with that pressure. He likes the big matches and he likes decisive matches. He’s a player you can trust in the big matches.
“I’m absolutely convinced he will put on a big performance and that he holds the keys for us. He has the mentality for situations like this.”
