Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel understands the club’s tough stance over Adrien Rabiot
Earlier this week, Rabiot informed PSG that he will not be signing a contract extension and will leave at the end of the season once his current deal expires.
Sporting director Antero Henrique then announced that Rabiot would be left on the bench for an “indefinite period”.
Speaking after PSG’s 2-1 Coupe de la Ligue win against US Orleans, Tuchel backed Henrique’s decision over Rabiot.
“It is a club decision, and I respect and understand their stance,” Tuchel told Canal+. “Now, we will wait and see.
“I love the player — he has been a key figure, but this situation has dragged on for far too long. The club has made a decision and I respect it.”
PSG captain Thiago Silva added: “His decision is a very personal one and you cannot offer advice to somebody who has already made up their mind.
“It is a shame, as he was a great friend of mine in the dressing room.”
Edinson Cavani and Moussa Diaby were the goalscorers for PSG on Tuesday night as they claimed a narrow win over Ligue 2 side Orleans.
