UEFA announces referees for Champions & Europa League finals

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) have announced the match officials that will be refereeing the Champions and Europa League finals later this month

UEFA Champions League final

Date/Time: Saturday 26 May at 20:45CET (21:45 local).

Teams: Real Madrid vs Liverpool

Venue: Olimpiyskiy Stadium, Kiev

Referee: Milorad Mažic


This season, he has taken charge of four UEFA Champions League matches, as well as two UEFA Europa League encounters

He also refereed last year’s FIFA Confederations Cup Final between Chile and Germany.

The 45-year-old Serbian has been an international referee since 2009 and has refereed in four Champions League matches this season, along with two games in the Europa League.

Notably, Mažic was in charge of the match between Chile and Germany in last summer’s FIFA Confederations Cup Final.

2018 UEFA Europa League final

Date/Time: Wednesday 16 May at 20:45CET.

Teams: Marseille vs Atletico Madrid

Venue: Stade de Lyon, France

Referee: Kuipers


The 45-year-old Dutchman has been an international referee since 2006 and has taken charge of three matches in the Champions League this season.

Kuipers has previous experience of being in charge of a major final, when he refereed for the 2013 Europa League final between Benfica and Chelsea.

Assistant Referees: Sander van Roekel, Erwin Zeinstra, Szymon Marciniak, Danny Makkelie, Paulus (Pol) van Boekel and Mario Diks.
