According to reports, Manchester United are willing to offer a player plus cash deal to Leicester in a bid to bring in Harry Maguire.
Once Harry Maguire signs for Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to sell a few defenders. The likes of Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo have been linked with exits and perhaps it would be better if they did.
The defensive trio hasn’t been consistent enough to play for the club. And Solskjaer is also not convinced that these three players are ever going to reach the levels required to play for a club such as Manchester United.
While Victor Lindelof is a key man in defense, the same cannot be said of Chris Smalling. The England international will however, stay at the club along with Axel Tuanzebe who had a great loan spell at Aston Villa last season.
And it now appears that Harry Maguire will be a regular partner for Lindelof next season. In a bid to make that happen, United are contemplating offering the Foxes cash plus Phil Jones in a bid to make the move financially easy for them.
And according to Duncan Castles the club is struggling to offload players on wages that don’t justify their performances.
“What I’ve been told is Manchester United said ‘you can leave, but we want £25m as a fee.’ Surprise surprise, there have been no bids, no offers from any other clubs in Europe,” he said on The Transfer Window podcast as reported by Daily Star.
“The only offer that’s come in for Rojo is from China, where they’re prepared to pay that money.
“Rojo doesn’t want to move to China, he actually quite enjoys his life in the north of England.
“I think in an ideal scenario he would like to carry on playing in the Premier League, but I’d be very surprised to see if United can manage to secure an offer for a player who is paid that much money, who has played that few games recently at the price of £25m.”
