After missing out on Jadon Sancho, Manchester United could turn their attention to Juventus’ Douglas Costa.
Douglas Costa could be the latest player on United’s radar after their transfer plans were dealt a blow.
After months of courting Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, the German side pulled the plug on any deal happening. Latest comments from the club’s director insists the 20-year-old will definitely stay in Germany next season.
After missing out on the English forward, United might already have their alternative in place.
Italian outlet Tuttosport claims Douglas Costa could be the player the Red Devils now hope to sign.
The report claims Juventus are ready to let a number of stars leave including Sami Khedira and Blaise Matuidi. In fairness to that report, the latter is truly reported to be nearing an exit from the club in the next few days.
Costa will cost significantly less than Sancho and the Serie A champions will have no problem selling the Brazilian.
The former Bayern forward struggled for minutes under ex-Juve boss Maurizio Sarri last season. His injury struggles off the pitch didn’t help either.
At 29, the report concludes that Costa could come in as a ‘temporary’ fix until United can go all out for another marquee signing.
