Real Madrid is sitting at the top of the table, tied with Athletic Bilbao with 11 points.

An important ingredient for the club’s initial success is the Colombian midfielder, James Rodriguez.

Real Madrid traveled to Sevilla to face the homonymous team.

Los Blancos won 1-0 with the only goal coming from Karim Benzema from Carvajal’s assists.

However, a standout performer in this, and many previous matches was James Rodriguez.

James tracked back a lot, helping his defense and helping team to keep compact shape, which saw Sevilla have space only on the wings far from Courtois’ goal.

The Colombian left-footed midfielder is playing like a reborn player this season. He noted three appearances, after having a great Copa America for Colombia this summer.

James Rodriguez looks like a much better player than he was when he left the club to join Bayern on loan.

Even though he had some good performances there, the Bavarians opted to not keep Rodriguez in the team.

Although, at least in the beginning of the season, that looks like a mistake.

Jorge Valdano comments on La Liga situation quite often. The Argentinian is a former Real Madrid manager, and general director later on. His opinion is well-respected in Spain.

In an interview with Onda Cero, Rodriguez said:

“James is a world-class player, and if he is able to commit himself like he has, we have a player who is going to give another leap in quality to the squad. He is more mature and has learned along the way. I am convinced that he will be able to take advantage of this second chance and he will perform at his level.”

It’s safe to say Rodriguez impressed Valdano, but a lot of work is in front of James, just like for Real Madrid.
