Valencia head coach Marcelino Garcia Toral has denied claims that he had a talk with Real Betis striker Sergio Leon.
Garcia branded the speculation as ‘lies’ despite the fact that Valencia are on the look out to boost their attacking options.
“Whoever claims that I have spoken with Sergio Leon is lying,” Marcelino told reporters and cited by Football Espana.
Valencia attacking midfielder Michy Batshuayi’s season-long loan deal from Chelsea will come to an end soon and it’s unclear whether the club will renew his contract as they keep suffering from a lack of goals.
Sergio was the top scorer for Los Verdiblancos last season, scoring 13 goals, however, he has only been listed to start just one La Liga game this season.
He moved to Real Betis from Osasuna in a €3.5m deal in the summer of 2017 after being at Reus, Real Murcia and Elche.
