The 22-year-old center-back believes he has what it takes to be selected for next season’s squad, and he wants to prove it during the training sessions.

Spanish defender Jesus Vallejo is a product of the Zaragoza youth system.

He started his professional career in 2014 when he debuted for the senior squad.

But his debut was so good his services were acquired the next year by Real Madrid, who have loaned him twice back to Zaragoza and then to Bundesliga’s Eintracht Frankfurt.

And now, even after the club has signed Eder Militao over the summer, Vallejo expects to see his name in the 2019-2020 La Liga squad.

“Of course see myself at Real Madrid next season,” he told Marca.

“I always work a lot to be there, competing and being there when I need to play.

He added: “The club’s signings are welcome and they are very good players who will surely help us a lot.”

“We hope to improve and be more consistent in LaLiga Santander, because if we do that then we will also be fine in the other competitions.”
