Barcelona and Manchester United will face off in the Quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League in the upcoming weeks.
Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona only needed a win to beat Lyon in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 series.
But after a 0-0 tie in the first leg, they ended up winning 5-1 on the second, advancing once again to the Quarterfinals.
And there they will play against Manchester United from the English Premier League.
“Difficult, but we knew any [draw] would be in the quarter-final of the Champions League,” Blaugrana coach Ernesto Valverde told Goal.
“All teams have high hopes and fully deserve to be where they are.”
“United are a historic European, world team, as we are, so it’s an attractive tie and difficult,” he continued.
“They’re stringing together good results at the moment, so it’s a very open tie that either side can win.”
Barcelona is currently in the first position of the Spanish La Liga table with 63 points, seven ahead of Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, Manchester United is on the fifth position of the English Premier League table with 58 points, 16 points behind leaders Manchester City.
“They did well with a great result away to PSG, so we have to be careful,” Valverde continued talking about the Red Devils.
“They do not give up and they were carrying a lot of injuries [against PSG], which they probably won’t against us. It’s one to look forward to.”
Before taking on Barça, United will play host Watford and visit Wolverhampton Wanderers.
On the other hand, Barcelona still has to play against Real Betis, Espanyol, Villarreal and Atletico Madrid.
