Ernesto Valverde has admitted that he has had a mix of emotions so far as the Barcelona manager.
FC Barcelona recently announced that they have dismissed Ernesto Valverde as the club’s head coach and has appointed Quique Setien as his replacement.
Ernesto Valverde took over at the office in Camp Nou replacing Luis Enrique. During his three year spell, Valverde guided the Catalans to 2 La Liga trophies, a Copa del Rey, a Spanish Super Cup, and a 29-match unbeaten streak.
Valverde, however, didn’t have much success in Europe as he was twice knocked out of the Champions League in the semi-finals which probably lead to his ill-fated dismissal.
Regardless, the Spaniard insists he is leaving Catalonia with good memories. Valverde penned an emotional letter to the Barca fans describing his emotions. As published by Barcelona’s official website, Valverde also wished the club the best for the future.
“Dear Barcelona fans, my time as Barcelona coach has come to an end,” Valverde wrote.
“It has been an intense two and a half years right from the start.
“In that time I have enjoyed some joyful moments celebrating victories and trophies. But also others that have been tough and difficult.
“However, above all, I would like to highlight my experience with the fans and the affection showed towards me during my time as coach.
“All the best to everyone. Visca Barca and Visca Catalonia.”
