Ajax general manager Edwin van der Sar has hailed the “fantastic” Daley Blind’s arrival from Manchester United as a great signing for the club
The Eredivisie giants are on the verge of agreeing on a £14m deal with United to resign their former player this summer.
Blind had a successful first spell with Ajax and made over 140 appearances before signing for United back in 2014.
The 28-year-old’s versatility is a natural bonus for any side and Van der Sar is thrilled that his compatriot has chosen to come back to Amsterdam.
He told Omnisport (via Tribalfootball): “I think Daley is a fantastic player. He’s multi-functional, can be a left-back, centre-half and a defensive midfielder. For the Netherlands and for Manchester United, he played many good games.
“I think it’s no secret that we [Ajax] are still looking for a central defender and, if possible, it would be a great addition for Ajax to have a player with the quality of Daley to fit in the team.”
United boss Jose Mourinho has left Blind out of the preseason squad for their tour of the United States.
