Van Dijk must be better: Gullit

According to the former Oranje footballer, Virgil van Dijk is playing really well for Liverpool, but he can do better.

This was one of the best seasons for Virgil van Dijk.

He won the UEFA Champions League trophy with Liverpool, and almost managed to lift the English Premier League title.

But at the national level, he’s not playing as well, which is why former Oranje footballer Ruud Gullit believes he must do better for the Netherlands.

“I think he did really, really well, especially with Liverpool. I think that he was the missing link for them,” he told Goal.

“For the national team, I still think he needs to be better than that.”

“Not him only, but also [Matthijs] De Ligt because out of the last 14 games, 10 games we’ve been 1-0 down. If you have such a good defense you don’t need to concede these goals all the time,” he added.

‘Mo, do what you want!’ Oxlade-Chamberlain defends Salah

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is cool with Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah's selfishness as long as he continues to bang in the goals.

“It has to do with the whole team of course.”

Gullit explained: “It is something that he has to fix. Not he himself but the whole defense, with the whole team, in order to be that player.”

“Of course, defenders have not been picked a lot. Baresi should have been picked but never was. So, therefore, it would be a huge boost for him if he gets picked.”
