Virgil van Dijk has dismissed any claims that this year is Liverpool’s year.
Jurgen Klopp could not have asked more from his men at the start of the season. Liverpool, yet to be on the losing end, sit comfortably at the top of the league table. After narrowly missing out on the chance to win the title last year, the Reds seem more determined than ever to wear the Premier League crown. But Virgil van Dijk currently is unbothered by his team in England.
The Netherlands will face Northern Ireland in the upcoming EURO qualification match. Just avoiding a defeat will seal the Oranje’s place in the next year’s tournament. And captain Virgil van Dijk is primarily focusing on his national team’s next fixture.
“I’m not gonna say that [it feels like Liverpool’s year],” Virgil van Dijk said as reported by Sportsmax.
“It’s something for the media. For players the main thing is we focus on the game ahead of us.
“For me personally it’s Northern Ireland, it’s a tough task. What happens with Liverpool in the future we’ll see, we have no influence on it, the season is so long. My focus is on the next game, at the moment that’s [with our] national teams.”
