Van Dijk wants a title before a Ballon d’Or award

The Liverpool footballer is thirsty to lift more cups than to win a personal award like the Ballon d’Or prize.

Liverpool missed the chance to lift the English Premier League title last season.

But they won the UEFA Champions League trophy.

Now, Reds’ footballer Virgil van Dijk is set to win more team titles, than to secure the Ballon d’Or.

“Obviously, it was an amazing season personally, but with the team as well,” he told the club’s official website.

“It could have been even more special and amazing if we won the Premier League, but I think we made a lot of progress over the year, year-and-a-half that I’ve been with the club.”

He explained: “I think the club already made so many steps before I arrived as well.”

Demi Mitchell, Manchester United, Premier League

It’s been a long time: Demi Mitchell

Manchester United defender Demi Mitchell is back to training after his injury and he's aiming at returning to full fitness to be able to play.

“We’re in a good way and that was shown last year as well.”

And about the Ballon d’Or van Dijk said: “It’s an honor if people are talking about it, but what can I do? I have no influence on anything.”

“The people that have an influence on it, they have to decide who’s going to win it.”

“I can’t deny that I’ve had a pretty good season last year, so the only thing I can do now is just focused on the new season, getting fit, stay fit and hopefully get an even better season than I had last year,” he concluded.
