Raphael Varane is hoping that Real Madrid can benefit from their extensive experience as they look to turn the tie against Manchester City.
Manchester City put on a sublime display to beat Real Madrid 2-1 at Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 back in March.
Real Madrid will have a chance to right their wrongs when they face Man City in the second leg on August 7.
Proceeding further in the competition will be quite a task as they will be without Sergio Ramos, arguably their most important player. Ramos was sent-off in the 1st leg for bringing down Gabriel Jesus inside the box.
However, Raphael Varane chooses to be optimistic and looks to use the momentum from their La Liga win in the upcoming match.
“We always want to win because we are Real Madrid. We’ve won a lot of league matches in a row and that’s given us a lot of confidence,” Varane told the official UEFA media, as per RealMadrid.com.
“It’ll be a tough match against a good team. We’ll be prepared and we’ll do everything we can to be ready and fight for the win, as we always do in this competition. We are focused on that.
“We’ve got a lot of experience in these big matches, so we can feel confident.”
