Carlos Vela insists that the same fight to be the best attitude seen in Michael Jordan’s recent “The Last Dance” show reminded him of Thierry Henry.
LAFC and Mexico striker Carlos Vela is a huge basketball fan. So when he had the chance to get an inside look at the legendary basketball player Michael Jordan he jumped at the chance.
Like many of us he was glued to the Netflix documentary “The Last Dance.”
Arguably the best basketball player ever Michael Jordan recently aired a no holds barred documentary about what he was really like as a world champion basketball superstar.
Vela admits the in series “The Last Dance” Jordan describes himself as almost a “tyrant” like figure, and a Jordan himself even says his attitude was “you were either in the team to win or get out.”
In an interview reported by Goal, Vela insists he has nothing but pride in the fact he got to work with the French World Cup winner.
He also admits he saw Jordan like traits in Thierry Henry, believing it was perhaps what also made him such a winner.
“Thierry Henry was a really hard guy.”
“He tried every day to be the best and he pushed the young guys to work more, to be professional, to try to bring everything to every training.”
“He would say, ‘if you train hard, you can play hard’.”
“Thierry Henry was an inspiration to me and you can see the career he had.”
“I’m proud to have said I can play with him. He’s a good leader.”
Vela may have a valid point. It is perhaps what sets Henry apart from so many pretenders to the throne of the Premier League’s greatest ever player.
