Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard believes new coach Ralph Hasenhuttl has made a positive effect on the entire squad
Since replacing the ousted Mark Hughes, Hasenhuttl has won two of his three games in charge of the Saints.
One player, in particular, who’s benefitting from this change is Vestergaard – who has started all of the Austrian matches after struggling to hold down a regular spot under Hughes.
“It’s had a really positive effect on all of us,” said Vestergaard, according to BT Sport.
“We’ve had two very good games and now it’s a challenge of keeping up that level.
“We’ve shown each other what we are capable of and we can’t accept any less than that.”
The Denmark international expects a challenge on Thursday against the in-form West Ham United.
“It’s going to be a tough challenge because West Ham have a lot of quality and they have shown that, after getting off to a bad start, they’ve played some quality games,” said Vestergaard.
“It’s going to be a big challenge for us, but we are in a process right now of becoming a better team and the last two games have shown we are going in the right direction.
“We want to stay on that path and to do that we need to win back-to-back home games.”
The Southampton and West Ham game will begin at 20:45 (CET) on Thursday at St Mary’s.
