Arturo Vidal wants a final call to be made on Quique Setien’s future as the constant doubts are doing Barcelona no favors whatsoever.
Losing La Liga to Real Madrid poured fresh doubts into Setien’s future as Barcelona manager, with club legends Patrick Kluivert and Xavi Hernandez already touted as potential replacements.
Ending the domestic campaign trophyless didn’t help matters either for the under-fire Blaugrana coach.
Moreover, Setien has struggled to match expectations since replacing the fired Ernesto Valverde in January. He’s even confessed towards being uncertain of his own future.
Although Vidal pointed out that Barca have only had a limited amount of undisrupted time to work with Setien.
But if the club board considers parting ways with the 61-year-old, he urged them to make a definite decision. Thus, Barcelona can begin making proper plans for next season.
“With Setien we haven’t been able to work much. The change was abrupt and we have tried to adapt,” Vidal told Win Sport TV.
“We’re trying to adapt to this situation and when the season finishes, the club must choose its future well.
“They have to decide whether the same coach will stay on, whether they are going to bring in new players, if the same ones are going to continue”
Although Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu has recently suggested the club will honor Setien’s contract, which lasts until June 2022.
