It was Eric Bailly’s first start for United since April of last year.

He has had surgery on a serious knee ligament injury.

The player himself admits he has been desperate to play and ready to do so. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finally gave him his chance last night after Victor Lindelof was sick and couldn’t play.

In an interview reported by Goal, the Ivory Coast international acknowledges the difficulty not only physically but mentally when returning from a lengthy spell out.

The United defender was concerned on all fronts.

He said:

“It’s not easy when you don’t play for so long.”

“I have been telling the manager that I want to play. I’ve been working hard after a bad, long, injury.”

“I’ve been ready to play for a week and told the manager that.”

“I was nervous if I’m honest after so long away because it was almost a year when I was injured against Chelsea.”

Well, by the looks of this video Eric Bailly got over his butterflies quite well.
