Bordeaux made it a hard-earned three points for PSG, as they had to battle back to win 4-3 in a game that saw Neymar sent off.

Following defeat to Borussia Dortmund in mid-week, Thomas Tuchel’s men needed to bounce back. While they got the win it was far from a convincing performance from PSG.

PSG fielded a virtually full-strength side. Tuchel opted to leave Mauro Icardi on the bench and give Edinson Cavani a rare start.

The dynamic duo of Mbappe and Neymar were both present too.

The visitors drew first blood, as Hwang heads the ball out of Rico reaches to put Bordeaux ahead in the 18th minute.

Cavani and Di Maria were linking up well for PSG and almost equalized in the 23rd when Cavani headed the Argentine wingers cross goal-bound. Costil in the Bordeaux goal tipped it over the bar.

However, only two minutes later and an exact replica of the earlier attempt saw Uruguayan international put this effort in the back of the net.

PSG continued to press and wasted several opportunities to put the game to bed.

They did get a second and take the lead in the 2nd minute of injury time. This time former Manchester United man Di Maria puts in a dangerous cross, which hits Marquinhos’ shoulder and then the back of the net.

Before the break, though Bordeaux capitalizes on a lackluster PSG.

Mbappe’s pass back is half-heartedly dealt with by Rico. Pablo pressures his clearance. The keepers kick hit the Bordeaux striker and find the back of the net.

Half-time: PSG 2 – 2 Bordeaux.

IN the 63rd minute, Marquinhos got his second to restore Thomas Tuchel’s side’s lead. The Brazilian was quickest to react to the rebound after Costil saved Cavani’s effort.

Five minutes later Mbappe got in on the action too, to make it 4 – 2 to PSG with 20 minutes to go.

In all fairness to the visitors, they never gave up and grabbed third in the 83rd minute. Pardo hits a screamer that Rico can do nothing about.

It made for a tense last ten minutes. The tension apparently got to Neymar, as after being booked for dissent earlier, he made a foolish and reckless challenge on Adli. He got a second yellow to see red in the 92nd minute.

While PSG gets the win 4-3, they are far from convincing.
