Liverpool has been sensationally dumped out of the Champions League by Diego Simeone and Atletico Madrid.
Jurgen Klopp’s men dominated the game in terms of possession and attacking prowess. But they also dominated the game in terms of errors too.
The Merseysiders trailed Los Rojiblancos 0-1 from the first leg. But a goal from Georgino Wijnaldum in the 43rd-minute brought parity and a lifeline for the hosts.
A beautiful cross found the Dutchman about ten yards out. He powered his header into the back of the net, game on!
While Klopp’s men continued to besiege the Atletico goal they failed to break the barrier that Simeone’s men put up and the game headed to extra time.
Only four minutes into the extra 30 and surely Liverpool had pulled off the sensational once again.
Bobby Firmino gave them the lead.
Set up in a very similar way to goal one, but Firmino’s header came back out. The Brazilian made no mistake the second time of asking.
But instead of securing the win, Klopp’s men fell asleep.
Only three minutes later in the 97th minute, Llorente swung the pendulum back in Atletico favor with the vital away goal.
A sloppy clearance from Adrian set up the substitute.
Then as Liverpool pressed for the win and left plenty of space for the visitors to exploit. Adrian was beaten far too easily from 18 plus yards out by Llorente once more, in the 105+1 minute.
Simeone’s men put the icing on the cake in the final minute of the game when Morata ran on to a through ball that sprung the offside trap.
It made it 3-2 on the night and 4-2 on aggregate.

Liverpool will be left to contemplate what could have been if Alisson Becker had been fit.
