Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur side was dumped out of the Champions League 4-0 on aggregate by RB Leipzig.

Spurs were already trailing 1-0 from the home leg of the tie. The idea was that Mourinho’s men would defend deep and try to snatch a goal away from home.

Things did not go to plan at all. The Portuguese usually prides himself on having a solid backline. This Spurs defense was far from it.

Sabitzer opened the scoring for the hosts in just the 10th minute. It set the tone of things to come on the night.

Eight Tottenham defenders between the ball plus the keeper, and not one made a worthy attempt at challenging the Sabitzer.

The Austrian winger hit a banger from outside the 18-yard box.

His second which all bit finished the tie off in the 20th minute was a fantastic header after meeting the cross at an acute angle to the goal.

A terrible effort at heading the ball clear only served the cross on a platter for Leipzig. If that wasn’t bad enough, the marking on the cross was cringe-worthy.

Emil Forsberg’s goal was the German sides third on the night and fourth of the tie. Yet again Mourinho’s men failed to deal with the cross and pathetic attempts at a clearance.

The ball was just waiting to be struck, and that is exactly was Forsberg did.

Mourinho promised Spurs fan trophies, it won’t be this season.

While RB Leipzig advances to the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in their history.
