Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to book their place in the FA Cup fifth round, after beating Southampton 3-2.

After the 1-1 draw at St. Mary’s, Spurs and Southampton had to play a fourth-round FA Cup replay.

With home-field advantage and a roaring Tottenham Hotspur Stadium crowd behind them, they stormed into an early lead.

Tanguy Ndombele’s shot took a deflection off Jack Stephens. The Saints defender was credited with the unwanted own goal.

Southampton was not going to give up easily though. In the 34th minute, Shane Long got the equalizer when he was the quickest to react to Hugo Lloris’ save.

Before the halftime whistle, a challenge from Ryan Sessegnon saw James Ward-Prowse leave the field of play.

His foot caught Ward-Prowse causing a serious cut to the knee and possible ligament damage.

The televised game’s microphones caught a voice saying “I can see the f***ing bone.

Half time, Tottenham 1 – 1 Southampton

The second half started a little slow. But in the 72nd minute, the visitors took the lead.

A stunning goal from in-form Danny Ings. The former Liverpool man curled the ball past the outstretched Lloris.

However, their jubilation was short-lived. Only four minutes later Lucas Moura finally socred again for the Lillywhites after a brief barren spell.

The former PSG man exchanged a neat one-two with Dele Alli before he struck the ball sweetly from 18 yards out.

2-2 a little over ten minutes to go and we had a game on our hands.

As the end drew closer, there was an air of tension about the game. A fast break from Jose Mourinho’s side saw Son try to round the Southampton keeper Gunn.

South Korean international Son hit the deck and the referee signaled a penalty. The spot-kick was soft at best.

But whatever it was Son duly dispatched it and gave his side the lead and the win.

Spurs advance to the fifth round with a 3-2 win on the night. Jose Mourinho knows his side was lucky to get the result tonight. He even told his opposite number Ralph Hasenhuttl, the best team lost.
