Luis Suarez played both ends of the field in the testimonial for his friend and compatriot Diego Forlan.
We are all too familiar with Luis Suarez the center forward. The Barcelona frontman is highly regarded as one of the best in the business.
But as a goalkeeper, who would have thought it?
This year saw Suarez’s friend and compatriot Diego Forlan retire from playing football. Forlan is a legend in his native Uruguay and so a star-studded testimonial was organized to benefit local charities.
The likes of Juan Sebastian Veron, Juan Roman Riquelme, and Esteban Cambiasso along with Suarez graced the Estadio Centenario, Montevideo field.
It saw Uruguay play an International Friends XI.
It was a given that Suarez would play upfront as part of his participation.
But the fans in the stadium and those watching via Teledoce were left flabbergasted when he donned the keeper’s jersey.
He wasn’t half bad either!
The former Liverpool man denied Forlan on numerous occasions of glory on his big night.
