Andre-Villas Boas uses an interesting analogy to describe his phenomenal 2011 FC Porto side.
Andre Villas-Boas is a well-travelled manager who doesn’t stay anywhere long. He is currently in France with Marseilles.
2011 was Andre Villas-Boas’ solitary season at the helm of FC Porto.
In all honesty, one year was all it took to secure his legacy in Portugal. It also placed him firmly on the footballing map too.
In one season he won four trophies. The Europ League, Primeira Liga, and Taca de Portugal, plus the Portuguese season opener the Supertaca.
In an interview reported by Goal, the current Marseilles manager looks back on that special season with fond memories.
“In Porto, when we were preparing, the players guessed the team that was going to play.”
“But it’s true that this team was pornographic.”
“With Hulk, Falcao, James, Moutinho, Fernando, Otamendi, was one of the best teams in the world.”
“When you look at the career they have made after it, it’s amazing.”
