The Italians had a tough game against Rijeka in the Europe League, but came out victorious.
AC Milan had to grind out an important win in Europe as a last-ditch effort wrapped up the final 3-2 in favour of the Rossoneri. Patrick Cutrone was the hero for the Italians on Thursday, netting an injury time winner after the visiting team had come back from a deficit of two goals in the last minutes of the game.
Despite being disappointed from seeing his side waste a two-goal lead, Montella lauded his players for their spirit and the way they reacted.
“I want to underline the spirit of the team that brought the victory home,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “There was indescribable joy to see the team play with this energy and determination in the final minute.
“It’s a great result, maybe not so much in terms of the scoreline, but it is a great step forward.”

“You have to control a match at the 70th minute. We must improve our defensive movements, as we have perhaps struggled a little in terms of temperament under the weight of expectations.
