Teenage star Vinicius Junior was disappointed by Real Madrid’s shock 2-0 home defeat by struggling Real Sociedad on Sunday
The 18-year-old became the first player to start for Los Blancos in La Liga born in 2000 or later on Sunday, but was denied a penalty despite appearing to be fouled by Real Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli.
But the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) made no intervention with Vinicius’ side-footed volley later being denied by Rulli as Real fell to a shock loss.
Willian Jose put Sociedad in the lead after just three minutes with Ruben Pardo taking advantage of Lucas Vazquez’s sending off to double their advantage and seal a 2-0 win.
“It’s my best game since I arrived at Real Madrid,” said Vinicius on the club website.
“But I’m sad because of the result and because we didn’t get the three points. I’m developing bit by bit to help Real Madrid. All the players have helped me a lot”.
“It’s very difficult to score and today we didn’t have any luck, but football is good because in a few days we have another match to find ourselves and win”.
Santiago Solari’s side will next take on Leganes at home for Wednesday’s Copa del Rey round-of-16 first leg clash.
