Vinicius Junior has completed his move to Real Madrid after agreeing to join the club last year from Brazilian side Flamengo

The teenage winger had been signed by the European giants on a €40m deal at the age of 16, but was unable to complete the move until he turned 18.

Vinicius’ transfer makes him the second-most expensive player to be signed from a Brazilian club after Neymar’s move to Barcelona in 2013.

The Brazil youth international was accompanied by Ronaldo Nazario, his family, representatives and club president Florentino Perez for his official unveiling at the Santiago Bernabeu on Friday.

Although a shirt number has yet to be announced.

“I know that adapting won’t be easy, but I’m ready. I thank Florentino, Jose Angel [Sanchez] and [Juni] Calafat,” said the Brazilian, according to Marca.

“I thank my family for what they have done for me and for my dream, I will not disappoint them.

“Fortunately I was able to choose from many great clubs and I chose the world’s best.

“We are Real Madrid and we always want more.”

A €40m price tag is a lot for an 18-year-old and Vinicius knows that he already has plenty to live up to.

“It is the greatest opportunity that a player can have, I am going to sacrifice a lot to show that I deserve this opportunity,” noted Vinicius.

“I come from a very simple background and I have been taught many values, now I have reached the best club in the world at only 18 years old.

“I will show my coach and colleagues that I am ready to play.”

After making his senior debut for Flamengo just over a year ago, Vinicius scored 14 goals in 69 appearances at Brazil.
