Vinicius Junior has revealed that Marcelo had warned him about the high expectations at Real Madrid.
Vinicius Junior has stated that his Brazil teammate Marcelo tried to make him come at terms with the pressure and expectations that the players are put under at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 18-year old made his official debut for Real Madrid last season against Atletico Madrid under manager Santiago Solari. Since then, following his flashy runs and tricks, Vinicius has been tipped to be the next great thing.
Vinicius’ game time has significantly reduced ever since Zinedine Zidane’s arrival. The Brazilian has so far made 15 appearances for Los Blancos while scoring twice in the process.
But the forward suggests he is not too much bothered by his situation. Speaking in an interview, Vinicius said that he tries to keep his head up and look for opportunities.
“Marcelo had already warned me: Here, one day you’re Pele and the next day you’re not playing at all,” Vinicius was quoted by Marca.
“I look calm, but I get nervous inside. On my debut with Flamengo, I was scared to death. I didn’t want to touch the ball.”
“I’m this way and I will never lose my joy,” the Real Madrid teenager added.
“I let things happen naturally.”
