Virgil Van Dijk has admitted to missing playing football and the fans in a message to the Liverpool supporters.

All professional football in England has been on a suspension ever since Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta became one of the first big names in football to be tested positive for COVID-19.

With the situation only worsening, any news of a possible return to action anytime soon too is not expected.

Liverpool fans are particularly devastated as they now have to wait even longer to witness their team lift the much-awaited Premier League trophy.

But defender Virgil van Dijk urged the fans to be patient. In a video message posted on the club’s official website, he also instructed them not to step outside their homes.

“First of all, stay safe. Stay home. It helps you but it helps everyone around you as well,” the last season’s UEFA Player of the Year said.

“The second thing is that we miss you guys as well. We miss being out there, we miss working hard every day and trying to get better and show our qualities to all of you.

“Just stay put, wait and see. That’s the only thing we can all do anyway.”
