The Borussia Dortmund manager hails the job his players did today, as they continue to race against Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title.
Borussia Dortmund continues one point behind Bayern Munich in the race for the 2018-2019 German Bundesliga title.
The team managed to get an important 4-0 victory today against Freiburg, and for manager Lucien Favre, his team was very efficient.
“We were very, very efficient today. In the end, we won 4-0, a harsh result on the opposition. We shouldn’t forget that Freiburg really pressured us with the score at 1-0,” he told the club’s official website.
“If they’d leveled at 1-1, the outcome might have been different. It was very difficult to get the victory here. Now we need to prepare ourselves very well for the next game, we have a derby. Every match is difficult for us. We’ve won five of our last six games but it’s always been tight.”
Thomas Delaney also spoke after the game: “It was a lot of work today. We went 1-0 ahead early on, but then we started to lose the ball often. Something changed in the second period, our pressing was a lot better.”
“The result was beyond doubt in the end, the clear scoreline gives us a good feeling: the strikers because of the goals and the defenders because of the clean sheet. I’m really looking forward to the derby. Now we have a few days off and then we’ll start our analysis and training.”
“The three points are the most important thing. It’ll do us good to win 4-0 here. In the end, it was comfortable, but it was hard work over long periods and that shouldn’t be forgotten. The first goal did us a lot of good and gave us security,” Mario Gotze added.
“If it’d stayed 0-0 for longer, it would’ve been more difficult. Adding the second and third goals was important. It was a good game for us. We have our next game coming up next weekend. We need to ensure that we get the three points there. In the end, the points will be tallied and then we’ll see where we’re at. Everything is still possible. We’ll keep going and give it our all.”
