Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Andre Gomes’ injury rehabilitation is complete and he is available for selection against Arsenal.

Andre Gomes sustained a terrible ankle injury during an innocuous challenge from Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min.

The injury was so severe it was considered career-threatening and suggestions were made that his season was over back in November.

He surprised everyone with his “after 86 days” return to first-team training.

However, in today’s press conference reported by Everton’s official club website, evertonfc.com, manager Carlo Ancelotti had some more astounding news.

The Everton boss said:

“Gomes did well (in the practice match).

“He played comfortably and without any problems and he is available, in my opinion, to play.”

“Of course, I have to speak to him about how he feels after playing his first game following a long time out.”

“My personal opinion is he is ready to play.”

Ancelotti even suggested that a starting berth may suit Gomes best.

He added:

“When a player has been out for a long period, I think it is better to start the game.”

“He can prepare properly, [rather] than to put him on from the bench.”

“But I have to speak to him and together we can find a solution.”
