Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal will be without Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil for Thursday’s return leg against Ostersunds FX in the Europa League

On the back of a 3-0 win in Sweden, Arsenal head into the second leg at the Emirates expecting to progress to the next knockout stage of this season’s Europa League. However, they will be without Ramsey and Ozil for the decisive leg.

Wenger confirmed the news in a press conference, but believes that the squad have more than enough quality to progress into the next round without them.

“Ramsey is not in the squad for tomorrow. He had a good training session but he’s not available for tomorrow. We will see how his evolution goes between now and Sunday. I don’t rule him out. It depends how well he can improve the intensity of training.” said Wenger, according to the Daily Mirror.

Wenger confirmed that Ozil was ill and will be expected to miss the second leg on Thursday night. The Frenchman was hopeful that the German playmaker would be able to return to training tomorrow.

“Mesut was sick until today. He was in bed Monday, Tuesday. I would have played him but he will have to work hard tomorrow.” said Wenger.

The likes of Ospina, Mkhitaryan and Welbeck are expected to start on Thursday. Meanwhile, Aubameyang is ineligible after featuring in the Europa League with Dortmund
