Arsene Wenger knows Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry well and insists that sky’s the limit but he has some reservations about the player too.
It was another European masterclass in the Champions league by Serge Gnabry for Bayern Munich. The question is why did Arsenal sell him on the cheap back in 2016?
Arsene Wenger was the man that brought German international Serge Gnabry to North London. He signed him as a 16-year-old prodigious talent from Stuttgart.
However, after five years with the Gunners, and an unsuccessful loan to West Brom, he was offloaded to Werder Bremen.
After only one year with Bremen, he was snapped up by Bayern Munich where he is now hitting top form.
The former Arsenal boss Wenger admits he did not want such a talent to leave. But speaking to beIN Sports he acknowledges the signs of a poor attitude and work ethic forced his hand.
“This guy has no real limitations.”
“He has pace, power, technical ability, he is very intelligent.”
“He is a good player, with individual ability and collective ability.”
“But sometimes he looks for the easy way, that was his problem.”
“It’s more about how much does he want to suffer?”
