Antonio Rudiger admits he went all out to recommend compatriot Timo Werner to his Chelsea bosses.
Antonio Rudiger insists he knows his compatriot Timo Werner very well. The center-back would go as far as to call the striker a close friend.
So when Chelsea was considering making a move for Werner they naturally asked Rudiger what his opinion on him was.
The German center-back insists he gave Werner a glowing report.
Speaking to Sport Bild, he jokes he put his neck on the line for the soon to be Stamford Bridge goal machine.
“Chelsea asked me for an assessment.”
“I have known Timo for a long time. I made a clear recommendation to do everything possible to get him.”
“From the next season on he will have to deliver, otherwise I will get trouble from the club afterward.”
“Although Werner is not a classic penalty area striker, he has certain robustness well suited to the toughness of English football.”
“This will give him the space he needs and hopefully he can use it as much as he did at Leipzig.”
Who else will Frank Lampard add to his sqaud this summer?
