The decision for Timo Werner to not feature in RB Leipzig’s August Champions League matches was not just the players according to his agent.
Timo Werner will be a Chelsea player next season. While he can’t play for Chelsea until after all the 2019/20 fixtures are complete, he will also not feature in any of RB Leipzig’s games after June 30th.
The German striker will officially become a Chelsea player on July 1st, but will not feature in any of this season’s remaining fixtures in any competitions for the club.
He has caught some serious criticism from the news, and his agent Karlheinz Forster is adamant that the decision was a total agreement between both clubs and the player.
Speaking to Sport1, Forster is annoyed at the way his client is being portrayed.
“What annoys me is that Timo is now being put in a corner and portrayed as a bad sportsman who lets his team-mates down.”
“I have to contradict that very clearly.”
“It was the joint vote of all parties involved and not just Timo’s decision that he should move to Chelsea on July 1, and not until mid or late August.”
“Maybe there are also financial aspects. For example, Chelsea said: ‘We cannot take the risk that he will start with us injured or tired’.”
That’s another top signing for Frank Lampard, but who else will join his Stamford Bridge revolution this summer?
