The 3-1 win over Bournemouth has taken the team eight points clear of the relegation zone in the English Premier League.

Thanks to goals by Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes, and Ashley Westwood, Burnley defeated Bournemouth 3-1 in yesterday’s English Premier League fixture.

The win puts the team eight points clear of the relegation zone, where two out of three possible demoted teams have already sealed their fate.

And for goal-scorer Ashley Westwood, his team was in “phenomenal” form during the match.

“It wasn’t the start to the season we wanted. But everyone sticks together. It’s a great bunch of lads and it’s starting to come through now,” he told Four Four Two.

“We are in good spirits. It’s in our hands and that’s the way we wanted it.”

He added: “The character to come here and do that to them just shows what a great side we’ve got.”

“The character we have got here, and the training is bang-on every day, and that stands you in good stead.”

“When we are like that, teams can’t live with us. When we’re on it we can match anyone and that’s what we need to do week in, week out,” he commented.

“I was peeling off before it went in. The way I struck it I knew it was going in.”

There are five matches left in the 2018-2019 season for Burnley. They will have to host Cardiff City, Manchester City, and Arsenal.

And the team will also have to visit Chelsea and Everton.
