The Portuguese superstar doesn’t know what else he can win to deserve the Ballon d’Or this year.
Cristiano Ronaldo has won five Ballon d’Or awards during his prestigious career.
But he has also been runner-up six times, including last year when he saw former Real Madrid teammate Luca Modric win the award.
And now, after winning the UEFA Nations League Final with Portugal, the footballer has asked what else can he do to deserve the Ballon d’Or.
“I’ve won three competitions, I’ve been fine, as always,” he was quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
“Throughout my career, there has not been a time when I have played badly and this year has not been different.”
“In 16 years the numbers speak for themselves. What else can I do? Do I deserve the Ballon d’Or? I do not know,” he said.
“I leave that to you, who are the ones who evaluate my performance. I’m not going to evaluate myself.”
He also spoke about winning the Nations League with Portugal: “they are cycles, you can not always win but it is true that the Portuguese national team is going through a very good phase since 2016 when we won the European Championship and now we have won the League of Nations.”
“It is a moment in which the national team is enjoying and I also, obviously, because playing for the national team, enjoying, and winning titles is very important “.
Ronaldo thanked the fans support: “The support was incredible, not only for me for all my colleagues.”
“They helped us a lot to conquer it. Not for my ambition because I feel good. I try to help the younger ones and they try to help me, it’s a perfect connection.”
