What to expect from Manchester United v Leicester?

Manchester United are set to take on Leicester City as the Premier League returns following the end of the international break.

Manchester United would be eager to put their dismal run in the league to an end when they take on Leicester City at Old Trafford on Sunday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side got off to a great start in the league with a convincing win over Chelsea.

Things have not looked great since then however. The Red Devils have gone on to secure two draws and one defeat since then and onus would be on Manchester United to return to winning ways when they host Brendan Rodger’s side at Old Trafford.

Home advantage though, would not be the defining point of the game given the way Manchester United have played in recent weeks. The team is completely out of touch and creativity has become an issue once again.

Here we take a look at a few things that might happen in the game between two sides experiencing a different trajectory.

Jamie Vardy to test out the most expensive defender in the world

While Harry Maguire has made a decent start to life at Manchester United, the England international knows that it would be a tough battle for him to keep former teammate, Jamie Vardy at bay. The Leicester striker is in red hot form at the moment and is great at forcing defenders into making mistakes with his direct running.

While he may be a classy defender, there are still suspicions about his quickness. And Vardy would be putting this hypothesis to the test.

United to take the lead

In most games this season, Manchester United have taken a lead. This was what happened against Chelsea, Wolves and Southampton. However, the Red Devils lack the killer instinct which is what always keeps their opponents’ hopes high.

The game against the Foxes isn’t going to be an easy one given the rich vein of form they’re in. Solskjaer’s men are finding it hard to score against opponents who put players behind the ball so this would be yet another test.

Tielemans to make a nuisance of himself

The young Belgian is in great form at the moment and is one of the classiest players in the league. Against Manchester United, the former AS Monaco man will be up for a battle and will be looking forward to put in the sort of precise passes that are likely to catch the United defense off guard.

A few of those passes and Leicester may end up winning at Old Trafford.

Mason Greenwood to be given more time

Dearth of resources is  not what Manchester United have at the moment and that is why the club’s academy players will be given a chance to showcase their prowess. One of those players would be Mason Greenwood who has so far played a bit part role. The Manchester United academy product has played only a few minutes but with Anthony Martial out injured, the youngster might be given more minutes to make an impact.
