Italian Serie A will take place in midweek this time around and it is clear that the top four teams are going to turn on the show.
The Serie A is guaranteed to be an exciting one this time around with at least three teams genuinely able to win the Scudetto. There are a couple of darkhorses as well so we just cannot get enough of Italian football at the moment.
Juventus V SPAL
While their defensive frailties were properly exposed by Napoli and then Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, the game against SPAL is likely to be a case of another routine win for Maurizio Sarri’s men.
The away side has conceded eight goals already and the sort of attack Juventus have, it is likely that more goals will be shipped past their hapless goalkeeper.
Predicted final score: Juventus 3-0 SPAL
Inter Milan V Lazio
This game is going to be a tough one to call. While Lazio aren’t really going to be able to sustain a title assault, the Eagles are not an easy team to beat. And with Inter Milan already showing signs of discomfort when it comes to playing against organized outfits, this game might see Inter drop points at home.
However, on the opposite end of the spectrum, Antonio Conte’s side will be in high spirits after securing a 2-0 win over arch-rivals AC Milan in the season’s first Derby della Madonnina.
Predicted final score: Inter Milan 2-1 Lazio
Napoli V Cagliari
After getting closer and closer to lifting the Scudetto, Napoli would be eager to add more strength to their Serie A campaign this time around. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are currently in third place in the league standings and look like a good bet to be part of what we call a three-horse title race.
The Serie A outing against Cagliari should not be considered a difficult one but the Neapolitans should be wary of the pitfalls of taking a team too easy.
However, with the likes of Lorenze Insigne, Herving Lozano, Dries Mertens and Fernando Llorente in great goal-scoring form, nothing short of a victory is expected.
Predicted final score: Napoli 3-0 Cagliari
Roma V Atalanta
Throughout the summer, Roma remained calm and got about their business without making a lot of headlines. No one really expected this team to go for the title after a poor previous campaign. However, under Paulo Fonseca, the Lupi have become an entertaining team to watch indeed.
As things stand, Roma are in fourth place in the Serie A standings with 8 points from four games and trail Juventus by only two points. If they continue performing the way they have been, Roma might have an outside chance to compete for the Serie A title.
The game against Atalanta is not going to be an easy one with Gianpiero Gasperini’s side slowly starting to perform the way they did last season. At sixth place, the Bergamo giants are definitely in for a unique campaign which includes a first-time-ever Champions League trip.
Predicted final score: Roma 2-1 Atalanta
