The Lionesses will play today against Sweden, one day before the final match of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
Four years ago the Lionesses defeated Germany 1-0 in the FIFA Women’s World Cup to secure bronze.
And today, after losing to the United States in the 2019 Semifinal, the team will have a chance to fight against for Bronze, now against Sweden.
England footballer Ellen White wants to end the competition on a high note, as they take the Swedish today in Nice.
“We want to win that bronze medal and go away from this tournament holding something,” she said to the Manchester City official website.
“I think it would be a huge disappointment (if we didn’t win) and we hold ourselves accountable for not getting to that final,” added White, who has scored in all but one of England’s six games.”
White added: “We obviously want to win that bronze medal. There’s a lot of players that were in the team that got a bronze medal (in 2015) and a lot of players that weren’t.”
“A medal would be something that we’ll be really proud of and we can look each other in the eye and think we did achieve something at this World Cup.”
“It may not be gold but a bronze medal is still an achievement,” she concluded.
Tomorrow title-holders United States and the Netherlands will play in Lyon to see who is the 2019 champion.
We’re coming for that Bronze ✊
