While they’ve been linked with the player for ages, Manchester United cannot afford to lose Bruno Fernandes this summer.
Bruno Fernandes is definitely one of the hottest prospects in the transfer market this season. Following an amazing campaign with Sporting Lisbon for whom he scored a glut of goals and provided a huge amount of assists, the Portugal international is a winner for sure.
Last season, he also played an instrumental role in helping Portugal lift the inaugural Nations League title. While Bruno Fernandes may not have the profile of the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Bernardo Silva or Joao Felix, the talented midfielder is equally talented.
From spreading the play to creating goalscoring chances to scoring goals, Bruno Fernandes is the sort of player who would make any team stronger.
Throughout the summer, Manchester United had been linked with a move for the young midfielder. So far though, the club has not lodged an official bid. Reports claim that the player has already agreed personal terms which means that the Red Devils only have to agree a fee with his club.
While the last few days the club was heavily linked with a move for Paulo Dybala. The Argentine international is surplus to requirements at Juventus but hasn’t been keen on moving to Old Trafford. Dybala sees the move as a step down.
Perhaps that’s the reason why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to pull the plug on the operation. The Norwegian only wants players who want to fight for the club.
Dybala isn’t that player!
Bruno Fernandes on the other hand, is reportedly keen on testing himself in the Premier League and is open to a move to Manchester United. After spending two good seasons in Lisbon, the Portugal man wants to prove himself in England.
The midfielder has reached an age where he has to test himself against the best. At United, he would get a chance to play against the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea on a regular basis.
Although initially he might take his time to settle down, if Solskjaer plays his cards right, Bruno Fernandes would become the club’s most productive player.

With the likes of Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez not proving to be consistent enough, Fernandes would provide serious competition and the sort of bite in midfield that the club has been lacking in recent times.
Last season, United struggled a lot with creativity and were aching for a player who could change the direction of the game in a matter of seconds. Bruno Fernandes has a unique ability to instigate such moves as evidenced by his time at Sporting CP.
While Paul Pogba can do that as well, the Frenchman’s heart is not at United anymore. The World Cup winner wants to test himself at Real Madrid. In case the player gets his wishes, Solskjaer will have Bruno Fernandes in his squad.
The Portuguese midfielder is one of the most creative players in Europe. And United with all their issues, really could do with a player like Bruno Fernandes in their ranks.
