Georginio Wijnaldum is not completely satisfied with Liverpool’s tight victory against Tottenham.
Liverpool marched on closer to securing their first Premier League since 1990 after successfully seeing off Tottenham in a hard-fought victory.
Roberto Firmino struck in the first half to give his side an early advantage away from home. As the match went deeper, Tottenham showed shades of their threat after causing numerous problems for Liverpool’s backline. But none of their chances were converted.
Speaking on the club’s official website, Georginio Wijnaldum has remarked on Liverpool’s inability to find a safe spot in the match.
Wijnaldum feels they were lucky that Spurs couldn’t capitalize on their opportunities as the match could have had a completely different ending. The Dutchman also assured that they were working to perform better each day.
“Normally, it’s always tough when you play against Tottenham. But I think we made it tougher than what it was.
“It was only 1-0 so they had the confidence to try to score a goal. We had to do better with the situation. At the end, we defended well but in a few bits in the game, we gave chances away and we were lucky they didn’t score,” Wijnaldum said.
“Every day when we are training or playing a game. We try to do it better than we did before. We always strive to do it better.”
