Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed that Liverpool players are totally honest with themselves and it has been the key to their recent success.
Wijnaldum has been a key figure in the Liverpool setup over the past year of dominance and has revealed a major reason behind his side’s success.
The 29-year-old believes the players total honesty between each other has been a massive plus and keeps them going for more.
Their recent loss to Atletico Madrid was only their third in a season where they have been totally impressive and dominant.
And now Wijnaldum says most of their dominance is not dependent on player’s abilities but on the family atmosphere among the players.
“We’ve played together a few years already, so we also know each other as people,” Wijnaldum said on the club’s website via Football365.
“We just have a group that is like friends. With each other, it feels like family.”
“Maybe sometimes we have to be fair with each other and say something which the other person might not like.
“But that helps us also to be a better team because we all expect from each other that the person you play with is giving 100 per cent. We, as a team, have to make sure he does it.
“We’re just honest with each other and try to help each other out to do as good as possible.”
Wijnaldum would be hoping this open atmosphere around the dressing room can inspire his side to turnaround a 1-0 deficit at Anfield next month.
