William Saliba has all the right qualities to excel and would hit the ground running from day one, according to former Gunner Mikael Silvestre.
Arsenal signed Saliba in a £27million deal last summer and the 18-year-old joined Saint-Etienne back on loan as part of the deal.
The youngster is already regarded as one of Europe’s promising defenders and the Gunners had to ward off competition from bitter rivals Tottenham for his signature.
In a Gunners backline that has faltered so far this season, Saliba is expected to play a big role when he fully joins for his first season with the Gunners in the summer.
The youngster has all the right qualities to do well and former Gunner Mikael Silvestre thinks the Frenchman will hit the ground running from day one.
Silvestre told Bet Pennsylvania h/t by Metro: “William Saliba will start from the get-go when he joins Arsenal next season.”
“He’s currently playing for a struggling Saint-Etienne side, but his performances have been good and he’s been consistent.”
“Defensively he’s strong, so he’ll be looking to impress in pre-season. ‘He’ll need to adapt in that period, but he has enough time to learn from the Arsenal staff and players.”
“He’s still very young but has great experience from his time in Ligue 1. He’ll continue to learn from the current centre-backs but he’ll have a big part to play from day one.”
Saliba’s current teammate at Saint-Etienne and former Gunner Mathieu Debuchy also backed the youngster to excel and do well at the club.
