Following a superb debut season, Brandon Williams has been rewarded with a new deal at Manchester United to keep him at the club until at least 2024.
When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer got the job at Manchester United he made a promise to not only restore the club back to its former glory but also take the club back to its roots.
The first comment will take time and money, but the latter refers to a squad made up of primarily homegrown players and attack-minded football.
Williams was thrust into the limelight by Solskjaer and has certainly impressed.
The 19-year-old has forced his way into contention for the left-back position. With his fearless firebrand attitude and desire to gallop down the wing and attack, attack, attack!
The club today announced that they have secured the future of the prodigious talent after he signed a new deal keeping him at the Theatre of Dreams until at least 2024.
According to the club’s official website Williams said:
“Signing this contract is another really proud moment for myself and my family. Having been at Manchester United since I was seven years old, it’s genuinely a dream come true to be playing in the first team. “
“Brandon has had an excellent first season, so we are delighted that he has signed a new contract. “
United and Solskajer obviously see him as the long-term option on the left side of the defense. With question marks already hanging over Luke Shaw’s credentials and fitness, this new deal will only intensify the pressure on the former Southampton man.
There will no doubt be another crop of young Red Devils chomping at the bit to break into the first team next season. The question is who will make the grade?
